Indiegogo Update

8/27/2014

Our first Indiegogo crowdfunder has now ended after raising $3,230.  We are immensely grateful to each and every one of our donors. You collectively have us well launched on this marvelous journey.

Unfortunately, we fell about $6000 short of our expenses and still have the last portion of our trip to complete.  We have been covering expenses out of our pocket, but our own savings are now exhausted. Consequently, we have launched a second Indiegogo campaign to cover this shortfall.  We are still hoping to raise enough to be able to donate to the Shriners if donations exceed expenses. Please help spread the word and share this blog so your friends can see the joy we are spreading amongst so many special needs people across the country!

Our Indiegogo page is here.

Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Grand Island Nebraska

8/15/2014

After 600 miles  of quality road time, we arrived at the Conestoga Mall in Grand Island and were given a very warm welcome by the mall staff. They literally opened their doors wide and rolled out the carpet for us so we could rock for the Grand Island Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

We arrived a bit early (as usual) so we set up and started giving rides and collecting donations for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. For six hours we gave rides to everyone who wanted one, and were impressed with the big hearts and generosity of the local community. In addition to our unicorn rides, there was also a bounce house, face painting, games and of course, the opportunity to sign up to be a big brother or sister. There was even a newly matched big and little brother pair out on their very first afternoon outing, and they both had a blast, not to mention getting off to a great start together. Several now grown former Littles even showed up for rides. At the end of the evening we gave all the tips we had collected to Amy Brezenski, the firecracker  new director of this branch of Big Brothers/Big Sisters in order to further their work. Our children are our future, and this special form of nurturing can literally change lives.

Weary but happy, we then went to the Grand Island Travelodge who generously donated a hotel room for the night so we could be well rested for the next leg of the trip. Thank you to everyone who made this such a memorable tour stop!

Indiegogo update

We are grateful for your support here and on Indiegogo. We are now approaching the $1000 mark which will mean we are 10 percent funded! Thank you to everyone who has donated or purchased shirts and stickers. We still have the bulk of our fundraising to go but we are off to a good start.

Our second tour stop will be quickly upon us as August 7th is just around the corner. Please help us spread the word and share our donation page on your social media accounts and amongst your daily contacts. It will make a world of difference and help us with what would otherwise be unmanageable travel expenses. We will be publishing a financial statement when we get back from the trip so you can see exactly where your hard earned dollars went

Zombies, Vampires and Unicorns,  oh my!

We had a fantastic time at our first stop,  the Sacramento Zombie Walk. We rocked all night with a never ending line of the undead. The zombie paparazzi were also out in full force.

We had some extra special riders last night.  We've had Elizabeth,  Queen of England,  the good King Henry VIII,  and Mary,  Queen of Scots ride before,  but we have never before had Jesus ride!  You might say last night got our tour off to a blessed start.

A grand time was had by all. We rocked ourselves to nubbins and in the process raised a large wad o cash for the Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation.
My personal favourite was Bob Ross,  returned from the grave to paint the happy little undead tree here waiting in line for a ride.  I loved his show!  It was such a treat to see that he's still painting so many years after shuffling off his mortal coil.
Next up,  San Francisco!

Our Indiegogo fundraiser is off to a running start. We are almost 4% of the way to our goal!
We are both grateful and excited for your support. The first thank you gifts have already been sent out and we just received our souvenir post cards and a few other perks to send out to our wonderful donors.

The first batch of Keep Calm and Rock On shirts went like hotcakes. Golden Grotto is working hard at keeping us in stock with these shirts, and we do mean hard. The second batch of shirts are nearly all claimed before they've arrived!
We also want to tip our hat (and horn) to The Clay Goddess, the Flying Skwirls and Nursefinders . Together with Golden Grotto, they are amongst our strongest early supporters. Thank you all!

Keep spreading the word, all your shares of our Indiegogo Crowdfunder are a huge help.
Word of our tour has made it to
the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France,
Europe, the Philippines, Germany, India, Finland, Singapore and Austria!
Yes, we will ship thank you gifts anywhere in the world!

Hershey, not just chocolate!

We are delighted to announce that we will be making a tour stop to benefit the Ronald McDonald house of Hershey, PA on September 6th. Rides will be given starting at 9 am and fun is sure to be had! These dedicated individuals provide a much needed home away from home for the families of children undergoing often lengthy medical treatment. A respite from the stressful environment of a busy hospital is an immensely important thing to help families through a very difficult time.

In other news, the very first printing of our Keep Calm and Rock On shirts arrived today and they are glorious! The green is a cheerful kelly green, the fit and quality are excellent. One of our friends suggested that folks who have them post a facebook profile picture of them wearing it so we can have fun watching our corner of facebook turn green. Mine is already up!

Thanks to the good folks at Indiegogo, we now have our fundraising site up and running.
We need to raise at least another $10,000 and every single donation helps ,be it one dollar or 100. Our first donor got us 0.15% of the way to our goal this afternoon. Thank you our anonymous friend!

Pop on on over to our Indiegogo page and take a peek. If you cannot make a donation right now you can still help by spreading the word and sharing our page. The more folks that see it the better!

Prior to starting this drive we have raised $1,440 in donations and shirt sales so the trip fund is off to a good start. Jim and Lorry Vassar of Chicago have the distinction of being our very first donors way back in 2013. Thank you guys and we are looking forward to seeing you both when we reach Chicago!

Bumper stickers!

We just got in a batch of these spiffy new Euro style oval stickers. They are printed on vinyl with UV resistant inks and are a perfect way to let the world know that you are one of those rare souls fortunate enough to have ridden Vlad the unicorn. Decorate your car, slap one on your computer or notebook, stick one to the front of your kilt and call it a sporran--the uses are limited only by your  imagination!

These stickers are 4x6 and can be yours for $4 each. Even better, shipping is the princely sum of zip, zilch, nada, zero...FREE!

We are using the proceeds from all sticker sales this year towards funding this trip, along with proceeds from our Rock On shirts. We hope to raise far more than the actual travel costs of the trip so that we have a hefty donation for the Shriner's upon arriving back home in late September.

Keep Calm and Rock On!

As of today, we have sold 27 of our Rock On shirts! The initial goal was to sell 50 of them, so we are a bit over halfway there with a week to go in the promotion. I'm hoping we'll blow right on past 50 and swamp the printing company with a massive order. Huge thank you's go out to every single one of you that has rallied to the cause. We can't do this without your support.

If you've not yet nabbed your shirt, head on over to our fundraiser page and get in on the fun! We've got shirts going as far away as Australia. If you are over the pond and want a shirt, just contact Katlinel the Rockinghorsegal. She'll take your order and ship your shirt out anywhere in the world.

We have what we think are the coolest logo shirts ever. They are available for a limited time at Booster.com and the proceeds will go to our soon to launch charity tour. We are aiming high and hoping to raise $25,000 so that at the end of the tour we have a hefty amount left over to donate to the Shriners. Get yours hot of the presses!
