Our second tour stop will be quickly upon us as August 7th is just around the corner. Please help us spread the word and share our donation page on your social media accounts and amongst your daily contacts. It will make a world of difference and help us with what would otherwise be unmanageable travel expenses. We will be publishing a financial statement when we get back from the trip so you can see exactly where your hard earned dollars went
We are grateful for your support here and on Indiegogo. We are now approaching the $1000 mark which will mean we are 10 percent funded! Thank you to everyone who has donated or purchased shirts and stickers. We still have the bulk of our fundraising to go but we are off to a good start.

Reposting this to bring it to the top. :) Our Itinerary continues to grow and we will be announcing even more stops in the very near future.

Today we rock for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald house in the chocolate scented town of Hershey. Barre, VT September 7th Come for a unicorn ride after Sunday services at the Barre Unitarian Universalist church! Our itinerary continues to grow. We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Gigi's Playhouse of the Twin Cities, giving rides to their effervescent Down's Syndrome clients and their families, as well as the dedicated staff and volunteers of the Playhouse.
Jumping forward to the end of the tour, we will be in Barre, Vermont, rocking at the Unitarian Universalist Church right after the Sunday services. This vibrant church is deeply committed to the local and global communities and has been working to better the world since 1796. Amongst their works are a soup and sandwich luncheon that benefits local nonprofit groups, an interdenominational food bank and on Friday mornings a community hot breakfast to all comers, homeless or not. August 10th we will be making our fourth stop on the tour in beautiful downtown Reno. The Junkee Clothing Exchange does enormous amounts for local charity groups. Come on by and go for a ride on Vlad!
We are off to a great start, and just finished our first big stop of the tour. We rocked your zombie world at the Sacramento Zombie Walk, and had a nonstop line of the undead all night. We put out our tip jar and filled it to overflowing, every bit of which we donated to the Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation.
We have just confirmed two more tour stops, the Cheff Center in Augusta Michigan and the Good Intent Hose Company #1 in Llewellyn, Pennsylvania. The Cheff Center provides therapeutic horse rides for special needs children and adults while the brave souls of the Good Intent Hose Company need a new squad truck. We are thrilled to be able to help them both. The tour calendar is filling up and nothing delights us more. Our next big challenge is raising funds for the travel costs. Transporting a 1200 pound unicorn across the country is expensive and to date our Crowdfunding donation page is only 4% funded. That equates to about two days of travel costs for a nearly two month long trip. We greatly need your help! Please go to our IndieGogo page and donate anything you can..even a single dollar helps. We will even send you some unicorn hair on top of your other thank you gifts if you donate at least $10. Then, please share our donation page on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram, anywhere you can think of. It takes a village to get a unicorn across the company doing good deeds and you are a critical part of that. Our Indiegogo crowdfunding page is located at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rocking-for-charity/x/7996986 We had a fantastic time at our first stop, the Sacramento Zombie Walk. We rocked all night with a never ending line of the undead. The zombie paparazzi were also out in full force. We had some extra special riders last night. We've had Elizabeth, Queen of England, the good King Henry VIII, and Mary, Queen of Scots ride before, but we have never before had Jesus ride! You might say last night got our tour off to a blessed start. A grand time was had by all. We rocked ourselves to nubbins and in the process raised a large wad o cash for the Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation. My personal favourite was Bob Ross, returned from the grave to paint the happy little undead tree here waiting in line for a ride. I loved his show! It was such a treat to see that he's still painting so many years after shuffling off his mortal coil. Next up, San Francisco!
We are positively delighted to announce that our second stop of the Rocking for Charity tour will be at the Pomeroy Rehabilitation and Recreation center of San Francisco! Their mission of the is to provide recreation, vocational and educational opportunities for people with disabilities through programs and services that encourage self-expression, promote personal achievement, and lead to greater independence.
The Center provides programs for children, teens, adults and seniors each week with support from dedicated and skilled staff. Volunteers and interns offer additional support throughout the year. Center facilities include a therapeutic swimming pool, gymnasium, adaptive computer lab, playground, theater with stage, and a community garden with greenhouse. The Center also provides employment training and job placement for individuals with disabilities and works in cooperation with St. Mary's hospital of San Francisco to serve people who have experience traumatic brain injury. The Center also serves as the San Francisco Traumatic Brain Injury Network. We LOVE working with this population and are over the moon about taking these special children, teens and adults for rides. Our Indiegogo fundraiser is off to a running start. We are almost 4% of the way to our goal!
We are both grateful and excited for your support. The first thank you gifts have already been sent out and we just received our souvenir post cards and a few other perks to send out to our wonderful donors. The first batch of Keep Calm and Rock On shirts went like hotcakes. Golden Grotto is working hard at keeping us in stock with these shirts, and we do mean hard. The second batch of shirts are nearly all claimed before they've arrived! We also want to tip our hat (and horn) to The Clay Goddess, the Flying Skwirls and Nursefinders . Together with Golden Grotto, they are amongst our strongest early supporters. Thank you all! Keep spreading the word, all your shares of our Indiegogo Crowdfunder are a huge help. Word of our tour has made it to the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Europe, the Philippines, Germany, India, Finland, Singapore and Austria! Yes, we will ship thank you gifts anywhere in the world! We are delighted to announce that we will be making a tour stop to benefit the Ronald McDonald house of Hershey, PA on September 6th. Rides will be given starting at 9 am and fun is sure to be had! These dedicated individuals provide a much needed home away from home for the families of children undergoing often lengthy medical treatment. A respite from the stressful environment of a busy hospital is an immensely important thing to help families through a very difficult time.
In other news, the very first printing of our Keep Calm and Rock On shirts arrived today and they are glorious! The green is a cheerful kelly green, the fit and quality are excellent. One of our friends suggested that folks who have them post a facebook profile picture of them wearing it so we can have fun watching our corner of facebook turn green. Mine is already up! On Saturday, July 12th, we kick off our charity tour a bit early. We will be in Roosevelt Park in Roseville California with Shannon McCabe and her Vampires at the Zombie Walk . Join us and the undead as we walk and rock for breast cancer research. This disease touches far too many lives. Join us from 5-9pm for some revelry designed to help banish this disease to the pages of history. |
